Inner Light Bodyworks
Massage, Energy Healing and Facelift Massage

Science Shows:
Massage Benefits Are More Than Skin Deep

According to a recent New York Times article, clinical research shows that massage caused biological changes in test subjects. Researchers at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles recruited 53 healthy adults, fitted them with intravenous catheters so blood samples could be taken immediately before the massage and up to an hour afterward.

To their surprise, the researchers, sponsored by the
National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, a division of the National Institutes of Health, found that a single session of massage caused biological changes.

Volunteers who received Swedish massage experienced significant decreases in levels of the stress hormone cortisol in blood and saliva, and in arginine vasopressin, a hormone that can lead to increases in cortisol. They also had increases in the number of lymphocytes, white blood cells that are part of the immune system.
Volunteers who had a light massage experienced greater increases in oxytocin, a hormone associated with contentment, and bigger decreases in adrenal corticotropin hormone, which stimulates the adrenal glands to release cortisol. Bottom line, massage is a medically-proven stress buster!

Autumn Organizing

The leaves and temperatures are falling, and before you know it the gift giving season will be upon us.  Before that happens why not take the opportunity to organize two areas in which autumn is the perfect time to work, your attic and garage.  The temperatures, now, are just right for tackling these two areas, and once you're finished you'll be ready for packages, gift bags, and bows.
Your attic and garage are the typical storage areas in your home and are usually filled with a variety of items.  Therefore, when it's time to organize them, you are faced with making decisions about items that you don't want, but aren't sure how to get rid of, and on items that you think  you should save, just in case.  I'd like to offer some solutions.
First of all, getting rid of items safely can be time consuming and troublesome, but with a bit of effort you can make it happen.

A message from WBN Director, Susan Finn

I am glad you found out about our Women's Business Network. We are a fairly informal group of women involved in many areas of business. We get together once a month to get to know each other and to try to help each other's businesses succeed.

The purpose of WBN is to offer networking opportunities and inspire, educate, and motivate women to be the best they can be in their business and personal lives.

September 2010 marks our sixth year of existence as a group. We now find ourselves with 50 members and over 25 women in attendance at our monthly meetings. Our meetings focus on getting to know each other better and on continuing to support each other in business by leading, mentoring and spreading each other's name all over the place! We are very grateful for our Leading Ladies (click here for their roles and contact information), who handle the many day-to-day details of running our organization.

Our WBN has become a larger, more diverse group than ever. In the past year, we have increased our e-mail contact list to over 125 women. This e-mail list is used to communicate with each other not only about meeting information, but also to spread the word about other networking or business opportunities for our enrichment. We hope that everyone on this list will continue to inform us of upcoming opportunities such as expos, networking, and other events that can help us all spread the word about WBN and the work of all the awesome women in our group.

Finally, I hope that you will find our website to be your one source for information about the many resources available for women's businesses in the Southeastern Massachusetts region. Please give us your feedback about how we can best serve you!

We hope to meet you at any of our monthly meetings or other events. Please join our mailing list to keep up to date on upcoming events and opportunities.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Best wishes,

Susan Finn
